The repeated Israeli attacks against Syrian territories have become systematic behavior with the aim of protecting Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS terrorists. Any attack against the Syrian Arab army forms a direct support to terrorism, taking into account that the Syrian Arab army is fighting terrorism on behalf of the entire world. Israel threatens security and peace not only in the region but also in the world which will have serious repercussions on the international situation.
Last night, Israeli forces of occupation launched waves of missile strikes against several Syrian positions. As was the case of its predecessors, this aggression comes in the framework of the constant Israeli attempts to prolong the crisis in Syria and the war of terrorism and to raise the morale of the remnants of terrorists.
On Friday evening, January 11, 2019, Israel targeted a number of sites in the vicinity of Damascus and its countryside with missiles launched by Israeli warplanes in a flagrant violation of UN Security Council Resolution No. 350 of 1974 on the Agreement on Disengagement of Forces between the two sides.
This new aggression comes in service of the terrorist organizations that began to suffer from the painful blows directed by the Syrian Arab Army recently.
The authorities of the Israeli occupation launched on 25th of December, 2018 an assault on territories of the Syrian Arab Republic in a flagrant violation of UNSC Resolution No. 350 through targeting several military and civil positions in Damascus and its countryside with missiles. The assault coincided with a time when streets were crowded with civilians celebrating Christmas for the first time after Damascus and its countryside were cleaned of terrorism.
The attempts of the authorities of the Israeli occupation to terrify the Syrian people in a holy day constitutes conclusive evidence that what “Israel” is doing is not different from what the terrorist organizations of Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra do, as the authorities of the Israeli occupation has moved to a new stage practicing the terror of state directly after its agents (the terrorist groups) were defeated.
The UN Security Council should assume its responsibilities in keeping international peace and security and adopting prompt and firm measures to prevent the repetition of the Israeli attacks. It should also obligate “Israel” to respect its resolutions related to Separation of Forces Agreement. The UN Security Council should condemn the Israeli repeated aggressions on the country and take an immediate and decisive measures to halt them in accordance with its resolutions related to combating terrorism. Such attacks would have catastrophic consequences and complement the ISIS crimes and practices to escalate the situation and fuel the region and the world.
The new Israeli attack aims at raising the morale of its agents represented by the terrorist groups which are carrying out its aggressive agenda and in response to the great achievements made by the Syrian Arab army and its allies in their war against terrorism.
The deliberately repeat of these grave provocations and cowardly aggressions is a clear proof of the fact that what Israel is doing is no different from what Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra organizations are doing in terms of terrorist methods and threatening international peace and security which unveils the reality of the joint agenda of “Israel” and those terrorist entities.
The continuation of Israel in its serious aggressive approach would not have been possible without the political, military and media cover provided by the US administration in the context of a state of immunity from any accountability provided by well-known states in the Security Council, which could enable Israel to continue to practice state terrorism and threat peace and security in the region and the world without any deterrent.
The Security Council’s silence regarding such flagrant violations cannot be justified because it is a clear give up of exercising its responsibilities under the Charter and avoidance of punishing the aggressor.
Israel should be accountable for its crimes and continued support to terrorist organizations, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations, the provisions of international law and UN Security Council resolutions 242, 338, 350, 497 and all relevant international resolutions related to combating terrorism.
These cowardly and provocative Israeli attempts will not dissuade Syria from confronting whoever tries to attack the Syrian people and sovereignty or affects its determination to restore the occupied Syrian Golan.
