Syriatel and MTN Launch 5G Network Pilot in Syria

Syriatel and MTN, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Technology, have launched the first pilot project for the 5G network in Syria.

This step comes as part of ongoing efforts to develop the telecommunications sector in the country, keep pace with the latest technologies, and within a joint plan aimed at enhancing telecom infrastructure and providing high-speed internet services to citizens.

 

In a joint statement received by SANA, the two companies stated that this strategic move reaffirms their commitment to providing advanced telecommunications services and accelerating the digital transformation process in the country. This contributes to supporting the digital economy and improving service quality for all segments of society.

 

According to the statement, the pilot project will initially cover selected areas, with plans to gradually expand coverage to additional regions based on performance evaluations and the needs of the local market.

 

The statement noted that 5G technology provides ultra-fast internet speeds, enabling users to benefit from advanced applications in business, education, healthcare, and entertainment sectors. It also enhances the network’s capacity to handle high usage density and offers a better user experience for citizens.

 

Syriatel and MTN reaffirm their continued commitment to investing in infrastructure and contributing to enabling the Syrian community to access the latest technological services, in line with citizens’ aspirations and the growing market needs.
