Syria’s delegation to 21st international meeting on Syria holds talks with the Russian, Iranian and UN delegations
Led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh, the delegation of the Syrian Arab Republic to the 21st international meeting on Syria under the Astana format, which kicked off Wednesday morning in the Kazakh Capital, Astana, held talks separately with the Russian delegation, led by the Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, the Iranian delegation led by the Senior Assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, Ali Asghar Khaji and the UN delegation, led by the Deputy Special Envoy of the Secretary-General to Syria Najat Rushdi.
The meeting of the Syrian and Russian delegations discussed the topics on the agenda of the international meeting on Syria and the need to coordinate the two parties’ stances.
Talks between the Syrian and Iranian delegations dealt with coordinating the two sides’ positions on the issues to be discussed during the international meeting on Syria.
The Syrian delegation’s meeting with the UN delegation focused on the United Nations’ role regarding the situation and developments in Syria.
The 21st International Meeting on Syria in Astana format kicked off on Wednesday in the Kazakh Capital Astana with the participation of the delegations of the Syrian Arab Republic and the delegations of the guarantor states of Astana Process (Russia, Iran, and Turkey).
