Syria’s Champions of Reading Challenge in the final qualifiers of the Arab Reading Challenge in Dubai

Damascus (ST) – Nima Rajoub, the Syrian champion of the Arab Reading Challenge, and Haifa Adwani, the Syrian champion of the challenge in the category of persons with disabilities, headed to the United Arab Emirates to participate in the final qualifiers for the challenge at the Arab level, which will be held on Tuesday within a celebration at the Dubai Opera.

Hours before announcing the name of the winner of the challenge for the seventh season in each category, both girls indicated their pride to participate and their hope to obtain first place.

Rajoub, born in Homs 2007, indicated that her love for reading came from the importance of knowledge and science in building human personality.

She noted that at the age of ten she obtained a license to memorize the Holy Qur’an, wrote a novel and many literary thoughts, and participated in the Syrian Scientific Olympiad in physics and informatics.

In turn, Haifa Adwani, 15 years old, competing at the Arab level in the category of people with disabilities, was able to grab first place at the Syrian level out of 150 male and female students. She suffers from a visual disability, but it was the motivation for her excellence, as she always says.

The Arab Reading Challenge, in which Syria is participating for the second time, is the largest reading competition in the world, launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in 2015. The Challenge aims to enhance the importance of reading among participating students at the level of the Arab region and the world.

It is noteworthy that the Syrian girl Sham Bakour won the title of champion of the Arab Reading Challenge in the sixth edition in Syria’s first participation in this competition.
