The Syrian “Al-Shorta” equestrian archery team has qualified for the World Horseback Archery Federation Championship after it ranked second in the qualifiers of Group 2 in South Africa.
Syria won the second place after Saudi Arabia, while Kuwait ranked third. The three teams qualified for the World Horseback Archery Federation Championship. Group 2 also comprised South Africa, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, the UAE, Yemen and Palestine.
In a statement to SANA, head of “Al-Shurta” equestrian team, Lieutenant Colonel Mahmoud Al-Masri, said that the 3-day competitions were strong between more than 40 horseback archers.
The Syrian team managed to present an advanced performance that gained appreciation and admiration, pointing out that the World Horseback Archery Federation Championship will be held late this year in a place to be specified later by the International Equestrian Federation after the end of the qualifiers for the rest of the groups.
The Syria team was represented in the competitions by equestrians Ahmad Al-Masri, Walid Khawajkieh and Shrouq al-Masri led by Lieutenant Colonel Mahmoud Al-Masri
