Sharing with the Russian people their celebration on the “Russian Flag Day ”, hundreds of Syrians gathered at Al-Omaweyeen Square in Damascus to take part in a festivity during which a big Russian flag as well as tens of Syrian and Russian flags were raised.
A motorcycle rally was held during the festivity and many participants carried a big Russian flag to stress the deep-rooted relations between Syria and Russia.
“We are here to share with the Russian people their joy on the Russian Flag Day which has important indications symbolizing faith in the homeland, peace and the heroes who defended the land of the Russian Federation”, Secretary of Damascus Baath Party branch Husam Al-Samman told SANA, pointing out that participating in this festivity aims at thanking the Russian people for their supportive stances towards Syria and the Syrian Arab army in confrontation of terrorism.
On his part, head of the “Revolutionary Youth Union” Sumar Al-Zaher said that the Syrian and Russian people are peace-loving people and they are in the same trench fighting terrorism and Nazism and their supporters.
The Syrian youths’ participation in this event is a true expression of the Syrians’ gratitude to the Russian leadership and people for supporting Syria, he added.
On Sunday, the Russian flag was painted with lights on the building of Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus as part of celebrations marking the Russian Flag Day.
