Syrian youths perform monologues about immigration in Lattakia festival

“On the brink of the wave and dream” is the title of a stage show performed by Syrian youths at Lattakia theater to focus on immigration of well-qualified youths abroad.

The stage show comes with the activities of the first Lattakia Festival of Youth theater, which kicked off Monday. It included monologues performed by young actors and actresses.

The young actresses Ghebeh Mresheh said that in her monologue she dreamed that she immigrated and sunk in the sea, but she waked up when her mother rebuked her for sleeping till midday.

Another monologue performed by the actor Jaafar Darwish talked about a young man, who was encouraged to immigrate during communication with a European lady via the Facebook. The young man discovered that the lady deceived him after he had sold all his properties and immigrated abroad.

The young actors and actresses wanted to shed light on the young people’s problems through the monologues written by them under the supervision of Academic playwrights, the official news agency (SANA) said.

The Festival of Youth theater will last till September 24 and it includes symposiums, concert and exhibitions.

The first symposium was held on Monday where the participants discussed the role of theater in confronting challenges, especially terrorism.

Since 2011, a foreign-backed terror war has been waged on Syria targeting its people, army, civilization and infrastructures in accordance with the US-Zionist plot that aims to fragment the region and to have hegemony over its wealth.

About 360.000 foreign terrorists from 93 countries came to fight against the Syrians from April 2011 till January 2016, according to the German Firil Center for Studies. While media reports have confirmed that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, the U.S., France, Britain and Israel support – by all means-terrorist organizations operating in Syria.
