Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs in cooperation with the Korean Business Center organized Saturday a music celebration and a campaign to plant 300 trees of peace and love in Tishreen Park in Damascus.
The activity coincided with the Prophet Mohammad’s birthday and Christmas Day and it included a distribution of gifts for the most beautiful decoration attached to the trees planted in the park.
It comes within the framework of the ‘My Tree Project” that aims to create volunteer culture among the young generation to enhance patriotism, State Minister for Environmental Affairs said.
NaziraSarkis told reporters that Young people’s participation in the tree planting campaign proves their civilized role in the process of rebuilding the homeland, adding that responsiveness of volunteers to plant tree is positive indication to expand the voluntary works in the field of environment.
On his part, Korean Business Center’s Director ZahirZenbarakji clarified that the ‘ My tree Project’ is based on the idea that every Syrian citizen plants a tree and attach his/her name on it and to care for it.
“Our goal is to plant 23.000.000 trees with the participation of Syrian young people,” he said.
The project comes with the framework of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Ministry of State for Environmental Affairs and the Korean Business Center in 2012.
