Riyad-(ST)- The Syrian youth football team defeated its Palestinian counterpart 4-2 in the first round of the West Asian Championship, “Arab Homes,” currently being held in the Saudi city of Taif.
The team’s technical director, Muhammad Aqeel, stressed the importance of the West Asian Championship for the development of the team and that it constitutes an important preparation station for the upcoming Asian qualifiers.
The technical director added: “We seek to provide a good level and modern football that helps us draw joy on the faces of the Syrian fans, pointing out that the players have courage, strength and the spirit of competition, and we will not stop, and we will continue to develop and advance”.
The Syrian team third group includes also the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Palestine teams.
