BANG KOK, (ST)- Maher Khayat, the up-and –coming Syrian wrestler, has managed to finish third in the Asian Beach Games (wrestling competition) Phuket, Thailand.
Khayat took the bronze medal in the90 kg category contest.
He (Khayat) showed his prowess and stamina on the mat beating a player from Indonesia 2-1, defeated a player from Mongolia 2-0 before losing to his opponent from Kyrgyzstan 0-2 .And lost to a player from Pakistan 0-3 in the semi-final round.
Elsewhere, Adnan Khankan lost to his Lebanese counterpart Ilias Naseef 1-2 in the Kwarch contest.
In triathlon, Mohammad Shubat was white washed as he finished in 21 place out of 37 athletes who competed in the event.
