Syrian weightlifters achieve excellent results in Arab and Afro-Asian Championship

Hama – Ten male and female weightlifters from Hama province  joined the Syrian national team for weightlifting which participated in the Arab and Afro-Asian Championship recently held in the Egyptian city of Sharm El Sheikh.

Coach of women’s national weightlifting team, Mohammed Rasheh, underlined the high performance, strength and morals of Hama weightlifters as they competed for the first rank in the competition, SANA reported.

He said that the championship provided an appropriate opportunity for Syrian team to interact with renowned and strong Arab weightlifting teams and enhance their expertise in this sport.

Weightlifter Mohammed Sa’aoud won 6 bronze medals in the weightlifting 94kg category while Mohammed al-Ahmed got 6 bronze medals in 66 kg category and Mohammed Jreish gained 6 bronze medals in 62 kg category.

Female weightlifter, Nagham Rasha,  obtained 6 silver medals in the 48 kg category while, Mary Gagheili ,won 3 silver and 6 bronze medals in the 69 kg category and Haneen Ihsan got 3 gold and 4 silver medals in the 90 kg category.
