Directors at the Ministry of Education discussed with a Turkish delegation today the strengthening of educational and cultural ties between the two countries, which contributes to providing a better future for students and rebuilding the education sector in Syria.
The two sides discussed the importance of developing the reality of school curricula and public exams, and facilitating the equivalence of certificates of Syrian students returning from Turkey.
They stressed the need to exchange experiences and organize visits between the two countries, which allows teachers and students to get acquainted with different educational systems and apply the best educational methods.
The Ministry’s Director of Planning and International Cooperation, Youssef Annan, noted the importance of establishing a committee comprising representatives of directorates to share experiences in curriculum development, with the need for certificate equivalence standards to comply with what the Ministry sets.
For his part, the Turkish delegation expressed its desire to form an inter-ministerial committee to exchange and promote educational and cultural experiences between the two countries. They confirmed their readiness to help in the equivalence of certificates for Syrian students who returned from Turkey at various academic stages.
The delegation also made proposals for educational programs, such as “school twinning ” to bring together two schools between the two countries to strengthen cooperation and friendship, through joint cultural and educational activities. They stressed the importance of activating the agreements in the field of education, and developing a draft agreement that will have a positive impact on relations between the two countries, and benefit students and educational staff in Syria and Turkey.
