Syrian-Turkish Talks on Health Cooperation

The Minister of Health, Dr. Musab al-Ali, met with a delegation from the Turkish Ministry of Health, led by Dr. Mustafa Tashkin, the Director of the External Department. During their meeting, held at the ministry, they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in the fields of health and medicine.
One of the key topics was the potential signing of a protocol to operate two hospitals: one in Damascus for cardiology and surgery, and another in Aleppo dedicated to oncology.
They also discussed how to meet the medical needs of these facilities and provide them with qualified medical staff.
The Turkish delegation emphasized that the Turkish Ministry of Health is committed to managing hospitals with a capacity of 150 beds each and improving their services to ensure high-quality medical care for the Syrian people.
Dr. al-Ali reiterated the ministry’s readiness to explore all ways for cooperation that would benefit patients and enhance the health sector. He pointed out that the previous system had left behind a health sector that was severely damaged.
The meeting was attended by several officials, including Assistant Minister of Health Dr. Hussein al-Khatib, Director of Planning and International Cooperation Dr. Zuhair Karat, Director of Damascus Health Dr. Mohammed Akram Maatouk, along with various managers and concerned staff members.
