Syrian, Turkish defense ministers, intelligence chiefs meet in Moscow

Syria’s Minister of Defense and the Director of the Syrian General Intelligence Directorate on Wednesday held a meeting in Moscow with their Turkish counterparts during which the two sides discussed several files, the Syrian Ministry of Defense said in a statement on Wednesday, pointing out that the Russian side took part in the meeting.

The ministry described the meeting as positive.

Earlier, SANA correspondant in Moscow said that the defense ministers of Syria, Russia and Turkey held trilateral talks on Wednesday in Moscow.

The correspondant quoted the Russian Defense Ministry as saying in a statement today that “trilateral talks were held on December 28, 2022, between the defense ministers of the Russian Federation, Syria and Turkey during which the situation in Syria, the refugee issue and the joint efforts to fight extremist groups in Syria were discussed”.

He added, citing the Russian ministry’s statement following the meeting, that the three ministers hailed the constructive nature of the dialogue in this format and the need to keep at it in order to stabilize the situation in Syria as well as in the entire region.
