The Theatres and Music Directorate of the Ministry of Culture participates in the Alden Festival competition in the Sultanate of Oman in its fourth session locally and the first internationally, through the theatrical performance “Naqiq”.

The script of the show “Naqiq ” won first place in the Arab theater organization competition in 2020 entitled (fiction and writing out of style) by the writer Rawaa sonbol, as directed by Dr. Ajaj Salim over two weeks on the stage of Alhamra Theater in Damascus in October 2022, where it received remarkable public interaction.

“Naqiq”, embodies the suffering of the Syrian citizen during the terrorist war and its psychological effects and obsessions .It tells the story of a woman who lost her only son and was paralyzed by a shell that fell in the garden when she invited him to spend some fun time together  after her husband emigrated abroad in search of work. This incident sowed pain in herself that turned into hallucinations and obsessions. Events pass through the show to reveal the bitter truth and turn the roles at the end of the show.

The show will compete with 24 theatrical performances from Arab and foreign countries selected from 288 performances within the festival competitions, which will be held between 22 and 31 this month under the slogan, “Welcome to the world in the Sultanate of Oman.”

260 guests will participate in the festival, during which five theatrical workshops will be held, aimed at discovering and developing talents, which is an opportunity for participants to express themselves and discover their artistic skills, along with eight dialogue sessions for interaction and exchange of experiences and knowledge between participants.
