Damascus (ST): With the participation of Syria, the World European Olympiad for Physics for pre-university students started with participation of Syria and 56 states from Europe and other parts of the world.
The competitions include two rounds, each one lasts for five hours during which theoretical and practical computerized tests on the axes of static electricity, static magnetism, mechanics, thermo-mechanics and nuclear physics are done.
The Syrian team comprises of five students: Omar Borhani and Bashir al-Refa’e from al-Sa’adehSchool in Damascus, Yahya Ibrhim from al-BasselSchool for Distinguished Students, Damascus,Abdullah al-Hisni from Al-Andalus Private School,Damascus and Mohammad Abu Wardan from the School of Distinguished Students in Aleppo.
The Director of the Syrian Science Olympiad at the Committee of Distinction and Innovation, NuboughYassin said that the committee had taken all measures required from the International Federation of Physics into consideration to make the Syrian participation a success.
She added that it is the first time that Syria participates in this Olympiad underlining the importance of such participation for Syrian students in that it opens the door to new scientific form of the tests.
