Syrian students in Slovakia: “Evacuation Day” an important turning point in Syria’s History

Syrian students in Slovak universities and institutes have reaffirmed that they will continue to support their homeland in its battle against terrorism and in the confrontation of enemies’ conspiracies.

A statement issued by the branch of the National Union of Syrian Students marking the 76th anniversary of Evacuation Day said that ” Evacuation Day is a turning point in Syria’s history and a major event in the process of national struggle and building the homeland on strong bases to fortify it against terrorism, the global war and the unfair blockade imposed on it.

The Syrian students in Slovakia hailed the heroism and sacrifices of the Syrian army and people to preserve Syria’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and independent national decision. They pointed out that independence formed a solid base for supporting the struggle of the masses against subordination, injustice and occupation.

Evacuation Day marks the evacuation of the last French soldier at the end of the French mandate of Syria on 17 April 1946.
