Syrian Students in Russia: Proud of Syria Leadership, Policy, Resistance

MOSCOW, (ST) _ Branch of the National Union of Syrian Students NUSS in Russia and the CIS held its annual general yesterday under the theme “with knowledge, learning and work to build Syria under the leadership of President Bashar al-Assad”.

Ramadan Mousa was elected President of the NUSS Branch in Russia and the CIS for the coming period.

NUSS chairman Dr. Ammar Saati gave a comprehensive presentation about the current situation in Syria and warned against tendentious rumors broadcast by media as mouthpiece of terrorists and their supporters, pointing the keenness of the Syrian leadership to ensure Syrian people needs, despite difficulties of the current stage.

He indicated that Iran is a key supporter for the Syrian people and that Turkey is paying the price for its aggressive policy towards Syria, according to the results of the recent parliamentary elections which showed decline in the popularity of the Justice and Development Party.

He called on the Syrian students in Russia to be ambassadors for their country in this friendly country which supports the Syrian people at the international forums and works on the convergence of views among the Syrians, especially in hosting two inter- Syrian consultation meetings in Moscow.

For his part, Grand Mufti of the Republic Dr. Ahmad Badr eddine Hassoun said that what is happening in Syria is not a conflict between the opposition and supporters, stressing that Syria will emerge victorious from the crisis.

The conferees approved the political and trade union reports on the NUSS branch activities.

To that, the Syrian ambassador in Moscow Riad Haddad noted during a meeting with members of the NUSS branch elected body, the importance of their role, as true ambassadors of their homeland, and role models in life and learning.

Haddad pointed to the Russian clear and consistent position concerning the crisis in Syria in providing all help and support in all fields, pointing out that the Russians are calling for the need to increase support to Syria, as an old ally.

In a statement following the conference, the Syrian students in Russia and the CIS expressed pride over Syria’s wise leadership, reiterating, their pledge of allegiance to the nation, people and brave Syrian army, in its defense of nation’s dignity, sovereignty and independence. “
