‘Syrian Students Have Higher Culture than Their European Counterparts’: Belarusian Ambassador

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Belarusian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Ponomarev has described the Syrian-Belarusian ties as historic and based on solid ground, stressing the importance of enhancing these ties in all domains particularly in youth activities.

Ponomarev was speaking during a meeting on Monday in Damascus with students members of the Revolutionary Youth Union (RYU), which is one of the country’s people’s organizations.

“Meeting with Syria’s students is something good because they are ambassadors of their country’s culture and they undertake the mission of building the Syrian society,” the Belarusian ambassador said, adding that “the Syrian students have got higher culture than their European counterparts”.

 Ponomarve, who voiced support for Syria in the fight against terrorism, stressed his country’s interest in the other youth category, which is that fighting terrorist organizations in Syria and achieving victories in the anti-terror battle.

In a statement to journalists, Head of the Revolutionary Youth Union Ma’n Abboud said the meeting aimed at helping the Syrian youth get acquainted with the Belarusian experience in youth activities and at enhancing friendship with the youth organization in Belarus.

He pointed out that Syria and Belarus will exchange visits of youth delegations  next summer.

Abboud expressed the Syrian youth organization for Belarus support for Syria in its war on terrorism.
