MOSCOW, (ST)_ Marking Martyrs Day, Syrian students and community in Russia and the CIS states held yesterday a solidarity stand before the Syrian Embassy in Moscow to commemorate the martyrs murdered by old and neo Ottomans.
Syria’s Ambassador in Moscow Dr. Riad Haddad, talked to the participants in this solidarity stand with the country in memory of its martyrs, noting that Syrian martyrs taught the world how nations, blessed by the sacrifices of brave men, are able to safeguard the independent national decision.
Ambassador Haddad pointed out that the role of the Syrian expatriate is as important as the role of the rest of the citizens who face the hordes of organized terrorism, warning that terrorism is a threat to everyone, without exception.
In interviews with SANA correspondent in Moscow, Bishop of the Russian Church Rev. Raphael, who is also a member of the ancient Russian warriors Council in Syria, stressed that all religions call for love, peace and compassion, but some of our enemies do not want to resolve the crisis in Syria, therefore they will be fated with “inevitable failure”.
Rev. Raphael expressed Russian people happiness over victories made by the Syrians and their army and suffering over their misfortunes, voicing continued support for the Syria.
For his part, Russian citizen Sergei Timogen vice president of the old Russian warriors council in Syria said that contemporary aggressive circles are trying to eliminate independent and national secular regimes and that the West, and its mercenaries and terrorist groups will only reap failure.
Retired Colonel Vladimir Okimov expressed his own pride that of his fellow warriors who provided the necessary support in the early 1980’s to Syria and contributed to its stability and peace over many years, commending the heroism of the Syrian army, who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the country’s freedom and independence.
Several members of the Syrian community said that they are celebrating the glorious occasion in commemoration of the sacrifices made by the Syrian people for decades for freedom and dignity and the heroism mounted by the Syrian army to achieve evident victory.
On this occasion, the Syrian community Association and branch of the National Union of Syrian Students NUSS in Russia and the Independent States issued two statements expressing loyalty to the homeland and support for the leadership and the army until victory over terrorism is achieved and safety to the homeland restored.
