DAMASCUS, (ST)- Syria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari has stressed that the Syrian state supports the return of displaced Syrians to their home and spares no effort in this regard.
In a statement to journalists on the sidelines of his lecture titled ” The United Nations and the Syrian Crisis” held within the activities accompanying the currently held 30th Book Fair in Damascus, al-Jaafari said the return of the displaced Syrians to their home is not only associated with the Syrian state but with many countries which have imposed “unilateral coercive economic measure against Syria, measures that are not based on a Security Council resolution.
He made it clear that “lifting these unfair measures will reduce the pressure put on the economic and social life in Syria.”
On the latest developments as regards China’s role, al-Jaafari said “China has always played effective key role not only to solve the crisis in Syria, but also as a Security Council permanent member state, thus it forms an important part in the council’s decision-making process besides being a principled ally whose diplomacy works in accordance with principles and this is a special characteristic in the world of today.”
