Syrian Special Olympics team wins more medals at 2015 Special Olympics Games in USA

WASHINGTON – The Syrian Special Olympics team is faring splendidly in the 2015 Special Olympics World Games currently held in Los Angeles city in California, the USA winning three gold medals, four silvers and one bronze.

In the swimming competitions, Sami Marei was awarded the gold medal for 50 meters butterfly, while Mohammad Bitar won four silver medals in the 74 kg weightlifting competition, SANA reported.

 Anwar Samakeh harvested two gold medals in wheelchair skiing competition on Wednesday and Asma’a Nasser Eddin got the bronze medal in the 52 kg weightlifting competition for women on Tuesday.

The Syrian Special Olympics team is participating in the tournament that lasts till August 2nd with a team of 21 athletes and a mission that includes Tareef Qoutarsh, director of the Syrian Special Olympics, the Olympics’ national director Talal Berniyeh and Mohannad Taha, the Olympics’ sports director.

The Games had started on 25th of July and are scheduled to last until 2nd of August with 6,500 athletes and 2,000 coaches representing 165 countries taking part in the competitions.
