According to high academic standards, Syrian expatriate soprano Aseel Masoud was chosen among eight singers to receive the Best Voice Award in a specialized training program in Barcelona, Spain.
In an interview with SANA Correspondent, Aseel expressed her pleasure at winning and representing her country, Syria, explaining that by giving her this award she received the lead role in the Oprah at a ceremony scheduled to take place on the Opera Theater in Barcelona in the middle of next month, where she will perform the piece “Anna Polina.”
Aseel has always sought to transfer her experiences and expertise to Syria through her frequent visits and concerts, in addition to disseminating Syrian music in Spain, where she and her husband, the guitarist Ahmed Diab, founded a band “Athrodale,” which aims to integrate Flamingo music with the oriental Maqamat.
She indicated that the Spanish people interact with oriental music and are keen to learn about everything that is new in the world of art and music.
As for her future plans, she indicated that preparations are underway for an Aroma concert at the Higher Institute of Music in Barcelona, which is a “Flamingo with a Syrian Touch” concert, with the participation of flamingo professionals. Another project with a group of Syrian artists specialized in visual arts and management sciences, is in the process of preparation.
Diab explained in a similar statement that the Athrodale band was founded in 2018 and includes 15 musicians; eight of them are Syrians and seven are Spaniards, who are professors and students of the Higher Institute of Music.
He went on to say that, art is a message of peace and humanity, and that he and his wife Aseel are constantly striving to present a realistic image of Syria’s beauty and its openness to various arts away from wars, stressing the importance of showing Syria’s rich heritage and deep-rooted civilization.
It is worth noting that Aseel Masoud was born in 1990. She is a graduate of human medicine from the University of Qalamoun. She holds a master’s degree in Music Therapy from Barcelona and is a soprano singer and student at the Higher Institute of Music in Barcelona.
Ahmed Diab was born in 1986. He is a graduate of the Faculty of International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Qalamoun. He holds a master’s degree in media and management at the European University in Barcelona, and a master’s in Flamingo Guitar at the Higher Institute of Music.
Both Ahmed and Aseel have several projects with their band “Athrodale”, including the project (Love in Syria), (Peace from Andalusia), and a special initiative “Our House Window Theater” during the Corona pandemic, where they invested music to socialize and build relationships with the community in Spain.
