Syrian-Russian talks in the field of communication and cybersecurity

On the sidelines of the fourth joint Syrian-Russian meeting to follow up on the international conference on the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons, the Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority met with the delegation of the Russian Coordinating Commission.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance and develop cooperation between Syria and Russia in the field of communications and information technology, in addition to cooperation in the field of cybersecurity.

The Russian delegation included the Director of Digital Development in the Russian Ministry of Communications and Media, a group of directors of Russian companies working in the field of communications and information technology, in addition to representatives of a Russian university and managers of satellite broadcasting companies.

The Director-General of the Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority, Eng. ManhalJunaidi, stressed the importance of continuing work and cooperation in all areas of communications and information technology to develop communications and information technology services.

Junaidi pointed to the importance of Syrian-Russian cooperation in the field of e-government and e-learning services and satellite services.

Junaidi refered to the importance of activating cooperation between the private and public sectors of both countries in this field.

For his part, the Deputy Director-General of the Authority for Technical Affairs, Eng. Atef Al-Dairi confirmed that the meeting was a culmination of the proposals of the previous meetings in the field of enhancing cooperation in the provision of communications, information technology and postal services.

Al-Dairi said that the meeting included a talk about cybersecurity within the scope of the government’s orientation towards digital transformation, the completion of the necessary projects, and benefiting from the Russian experience and expertise, which contributes to providing support for capacity-building in the field of communications and information technology.

Al-Dairi said that the two sides also discussed the possibility of receiving students in Russian universities, which constitutes a valuable opportunity for them and enhances their rapprochement.
