Syrian, Russian Martyred Soldiers’ Families Honored

On the occasion of Syrian-Russian Friendship Day, the Syrian Ministry of Tourism held Friday a celebration in Lattakia city where several families of Syrian and Russian martyred soldiers were honored.

During the celebration, Lattakia Governor  Ibrahim Kheder al-Salem said that victories of Syrian Arab army will continue nationwide thanks to Syrian heroes’ sacrifices and friends’ support, mainly Russian army, Lebanese resistance [Hezbollah] and Iran, who work together in fighting terrorism that hit several countries in the region.

 “Coordination between Syrian and Russian leaderships has led to a series of achievements on the ground and in reconciliation process in Syria,” he added, pointing that the celebration held on the occasion of Syrian-Russian Friendship Day for the second year running proves that the two countries have a key role in developing civilization at cultural and scientific levels.

On his part, Secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist Party’s  Lattakia branch Mohammad Shritih underlined that Russian friends have struggled with Syrian heroes, who will never forget their stances.

Chairman of Reconciliation and coordination center in Hmeimim airbase Alexey Kim talked about cooperation between Syrian armed forces and Russian Air forces that worked together during difficult circumstances to make remarkable achievements against terrorism in Syria.

“Russia knows well that fighting terrorism in Damascus means defending Moscow,” he said, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The agency reported yesterday that the celebration included films about relations between Syria and Russia in all fields, dances and exhibition of Byzantine Icons .
