Syrian-Russian Friendship Committee supports Russia’s special military operation in Donbass region

DAMASCUS, March.8, (ST)-The Syrian-Russian Friendship Committee at the People’s Assembly [Parliament] asserted on Tuesday that it stands by the friendly Russian people and leadership in the special military operation in the Donbass region.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the committee affirmed that Russia’s stance is right and it has the legitimate right to defend itself against the US and western policies that aim to gain hegemony over the resources and wealth of peoples.

“Russia has the right to defend the civilians in Donetsk and Luhansk and to protect them from the Nazi practices of  the nationalists in Ukraine during the past years  in the light of the intransigence of the Ukrainian government with regard to not implementing the Minsk agreements and its attempt to join NATO and possess nuclear weapons to threaten Russian national security,” the committee said.

It stressed that the US and its Western allies are the ones who bear full responsibility for all the devastation, destruction and blood that was shed in Ukraine and in other parts of the world.
The committee underlined its support for Russia in facing the misleading campaign being launched by the US and its allies against Russia’s just demands.
