Syrian Referee Obeid participates in Open Paris Karate

Syrian international referee Amjad Obaid participated in the Open Paris Karate Championship (World League), which was held in Paris, France.

The Syrian referee Obaid said that all matches in the tournament were strong with above standard and high performance players because the tournament came at the beginning of the high season and before the Olympic Games in Tokyo next June.

The tournament used new kata rules. Seven referees sit around the table. Each referee puts the evaluation points (70% technical performance, 30% sports performance). Then they take the average, Obaid added.

It is to be mentioned that the referee Amjad Obaid was born in 1976, holds a degree in economics from the University of Damascus, the international medal of arbitration and the Asian international medal in 2013. He is the 4th Syrian referee who holds the international medal. Besides, he holds the 4th Dan Black Belt and he participated as a referee in many international championships (Open American championship in Las Vegas, World Championship in Indonesia).
