Syrian Red Crescent Confirms Continuation of Relief Efforts and Needs Assessment in Latakia, Tartus and Hama
The Syrian Arab Red Crescent Organization has intensified its emergency humanitarian work in the governorates of Latakia, Tartus and Hama, stressing the continuation of relief efforts and assessing the needs of the people of these areas.
The organization explained in a statement published today on its Facebook page that since the start of its response on the sixth of this month, its ambulance and emergency teams have transported 328 patients, while the cadaver management teams continue to recover the bodies and preserve them safely to hand them over to their families later, in addition to visiting mobile clinics in the affected areas to provide health care, where they provided basic examinations and medicines to 233 people in Rumaila and al-Snobar areas in Jableh.
In order to support the continuation of vital services, the organization provided medical assistance to hospitals in Tartus, Banias, Latakia, Jableh and Hama, including ambulatory and surgical emergency kits, consumables, mobility aids and non-food items, with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
According to the statement, the organization supported Hama National Hospital with cadres to receive blood donors and deal with emergency cases.
With the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross, an electric generator (300 KVA) was provided to Banias hospital to ensure the continuous operation of operating rooms, dialysis and intensive care units.
The AL-Sin station in Latakia was also supplied with batteries and fuel to power the generators, and contributed to repairing the station’s feeding line, returning water to Latakia, Jabal and Qardah.
In order to meet the emergency needs, the organization, according to the statement, provided relief materials to the National Hospital in Hama and the Tartus health directorate, and distributed food baskets in the AL-Qadmus area, while assessing the needs of families in the affected areas and host families needs.
