(ST) -Deputy Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Dr. Hayan Salman said that the work is going on to enable Syrian products to enter the Belarusian market and thus to the Customs’ Union Market, which includes the Russian Federation, Belarus and Kazakhstan and to achieve this goal, the work is going on completing a series of steps. The first goal is to realize a set of steps including the possibility of signing cooperation agreements between the two countries in the field of trade and economic and the proposed memorandum of understanding for cooperation in the field of international fairs and exhibitions.
There are serious efforts to discuss the possibility of granting preferential treatment to Syrian products entering the Belarusian markets pending the completion of a free trade agreement in addition to the importance of coordination with the Belarusian side for an exhibition of Syrian products in Belarus and ensuring the participation in international specialized exhibitions which will be held in Minsk during 2014 and 2015,” Dr. Hayyan said in a statement.
“The economic and trade development between the two countries will include the production field and the next phase will witness establishing Syrian, Belarusian joint companies to produce Belarusian machinery in Syria in addition to having great potential for bilateral cooperation in the fields of information technology, energy and telecommunications.
This mechanism of work will be within a legislative framework that regulates Syrian-Belarusian economic and trade relations, increase the volume of trade and the establishment of projects and investment partnership, particularly in the field of industry, energy, oil refining and the establishment of refineries, chemical industry and transport projects for they constitute a vital bridge enhances the economic and trade cooperation between Syria and Belarus,” resources in the Ministry of Economy said.
