Syrian Presidency asserts its readiness to build relations with Donetsk and Luhansk Republics based on joint interests

DAMASCUS, Feb.22, (ST)-The Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic Commented on the media reports that have been circulated about Syria’s recognition of Donetsk and Luhansk Republics by saying:

During the visit that was paid by the Russian parliamentary delegation headed by the  Russian MP Dmitry Sablin and included representatives of Donetsk Republic on the 21st of December 2021 [ Two months before the developments that recently took place], President Bashar Al-Assad presented then Syria’s readiness to recognize Donetsk Republic and there was an agreement to start building relations with it.

This stance stems from Syria’s conviction that the Ukrainian crisis is a problem created by the western country, mainly the United States, with the aim of fragmenting peoples and undermining the Russian National Security. It also stems from its firm stance that confronting western policies is a joint and permanent interest for anti-hegemony peoples and it must be confronted by all possible means.

Syria asserts that it is ready to build relations with Donetsk and Luhansk Republics and to enhance them within the framework of joint interest and mutual respect.
