Syrian Plastic Art Exhibition “Al- Kharif “(the Autumn), surprises its visitors with the number and quality of works

Damascus, ST– “Al-Kharif” exhibition which was held yesterday at Khan Asaad Pasha in Damascus, surprises the visitors with the number and quality of the participating works and the attendance of many famous artists in plastic art.
The exhibition was held by the Ministry of Culture, as part of the activities of the Syrian Art Days. Tawfiq Al-Imam, Deputy Minister of Culture, said in a press statement: “The number of the participating works in the exhibition was very large where about 215 works were chosen through a committee that included artists from the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Union of Plastic Artists. Thus, the exhibition, which has been held annually since the 1950s, will still maintain its beauty and uniqueness, thus, plastic art will take an important role in our daily life.
The plastic artist George Ashi said in a statement to SANA that the “Autumn” exhibition is an opportunity of the Syrian artists to meet with each other and exhibit their works, noting that this year’s session has achieved a qualitative leap with its works that varied between seriousness and search for beauty. Ashi participated in a painting which expressed meditation, surprise and depression as a summary of experience of the war in Syria.
In turn, the plastic artist Ghazi Kassouh spoke about the distinction of this year’s exhibition due to the fact that, after the war, many artists return to their homes and that a great number of famous artists participate in the exhibition as well as a distinguished participating of young artists. Kassouh participated in a sculpture entitled “Molamasa”(Touch), which is an expressive work that contains many details that reflect human feelings that call for love and meeting.
Artist Moufida El-Dioub said that the exhibition is characterized this year by the diversity of many artistic genres like: sculpture, photography, graphics and engraving, which shows the ability of our artists to create despite all the difficult circumstances, indicating that her painting entitled “Time and Place” deals with people who lived and suffered great deal during the war and their insistence to stay in their homes despite the destruction around them.
