Syrian people’s will stronger than conspiracy

The presidential elections in Syria are the right of the Syrian citizens and they serve the interests of the Syrian people and restoring security and stability to the country. The elections will be held in an atmosphere of transparency, honesty and democracy. Electing a president will speed up and strengthen any future political process, rather than hinder it as the enemies of Syrian people claim.

The presidential elections process reflects the values of freedom and democracy the Syrian people enjoy, as they are also a determination on confronting the aggression launched against the country. The participation in this process represents gratitude for the Syrian Arab army in its war against terrorism, as it is also an occasion to prove to the world that Syria is a nation that deserves to live freely without any foreign diktat.

It is ironic that the states that claim to be defenders of democracy and human rights are impeding the democratic process in Syria and conspiring to hinder the presidential elections scheduled to be held in Syria on June 3.

France has decided to prevent the Syrian community in France from casting their votes. By so doing, France continues to be a tool for the US, with the French trying to force Chapter Seven in dealing with the Syrian crisis or resort to organizations with which dealings have been questionable. The decision of Paris to prevent Syrians from participating in the upcoming Syrian presidential elections at the Syrian embassy discloses the fakeness and pretence of France’s allegations of being democratic and freedom-advocate state. The measure is a decision to deny the Syrian community in France one of its rights, a right has been guaranteed by international constitutions and included clearly and explicitly in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The French government’s measure is a decision to further back terrorism and the extremist takfiri groups operating against Syrian people and their public and private properties with the aim of implementing the Western Zionist project in the region and perpetuating the Israeli occupation of the Arab territories.

The French statements are irresponsible and they push towards the use of force instead of resorting to the UN Charter and the principles of the international law.  Influential states at the UN Security Council, which support the armed terrorist groups in Syria, in addition to some Arab countries, have a political plan on changing the situation in Syria by force. These countries seek to create a political vacuum to utilize it for meddling in the country’s internal affairs, but the Syrian people have determined their future and decided to repel any attempt that aims to interfere in their internal affairs and free decision.

Germany joined the choir of countries that are trying to disrupt the presidential elections in Syria for being a party in what Syria is witnessing through supporting, funding and arming the terrorist groups in order to destroy Syria and its people and to undermine its national decision and prevent the Syrians from ending the crisis and achieving national reconciliation.

Members of this choir should know that Syria is an independent and a sovereign state as its decision stems from the will of its people and in accordance with the provisions of its Constitution and laws.

It is not strange that the rage and conspiracy of these countries are increased due to the victories achieved by the Syrian people and the achievements of the army in eliminating terrorist gatherings and liberating Syrian cities and towns.

Syria’s decision to hold presidential elections on schedule is a purely sovereign Syrian decision that no country is allowed to interfere in. These countries, which have long claimed to be defending the Syrian people, are now trying to stand in the way of their will. If these countries, particularly Western states, claim to be championing democracy, freedom and transparency, then they have to listen to what the Syrians have to say and whom they will choose through the ballot boxes.

The real legitimacy will be determined by the ballot box and it is the Syrian people who will choose the one to lead them in the coming stage through pluralistic elections for the first time in its modern history, paying no heed all obstacles laid in the way of the Syrian people.

Saudi and French intelligence authorities are reportedly working on a plan to disrupt forthcoming presidential election in Syria. Western media reports stated that the plan is being devised by agents from Saudi and French intelligence services in a border region between Syria and Jordan. The sources further stated that the massive operations and landslide victories being realized by Syrian Army in several Syrian areas against foreign-sponsored terrorists have caused concern among officials in Riyadh and Paris because their sinister agenda in Syria has been foiled. Foreign-backed militants have been directed to conduct fresh attacks and escalate their crimes against Syrian people in different parts of Syria.

France’s external intelligence agency, the General Directorate for External Security, is also planning to supply Syrian militants with anti-aircraft missiles despite the European Union’s warnings against arming Takfiri terrorists in Syria.

The states conspiring against Syria must know that legitimacy does not come from them; legitimacy is decided by Syrian people and their allegations about democracy are sheer lies. Conducting presidential elections is related to Syrian constitution only, and they are subject to the Syrian people’s will which is stronger than all conspiracies.
