Syrian Parliamentary delegation meets IPU president and French and British MPs in Belgrade

The Syrian parliamentary delegation, that is taking part in the Inter-Parliamentary Union’s meetings in Belgrade, has met the president of the IPU Gabriela Cuevas Barron and the participating French and British delegations.

According to the press release of the Syrian People’s Assembly [Parliament], the head of the Syrian delegation Najdat Anzour briefed Barron on the latest developments in Syria and the dangerous effects of the Turkish attack on the northeast of Syria.

On her part, Barron said that the Turkish attack on Syria breaches the international law and it will increase tension and hinder the UN efforts to reach political solution to the crisis in Syria.

In two separate meetings with the participating French and British delegations, Anzour asserted that Erdogan regime and some regional countries have attacked Syria since the start of the terror war on it through facilitating the infiltration of terrorists to Syria and providing them with all forms of support.

As for the move of the Syrian army to the northeast of Syria, Anzour clarified that the army fulfills its duty related to confronting the attack and protecting Syrian peoples.

The Syrian delegation called on the French government to reconsider its policy towards Syria and to stop its support for the US policies that aim at creating more chaos in the region.

It affirmed that the unilateral coercive measures being imposed by the U.S. on Syria have bad effects on the daily life of the Syrian people.

Anzour also called on the French delegation to send a group to visit Syria as soon as possible to investigate the facts as several parliamentary delegations have visited Syria and they have discovered the reality of events.

He appealed to the British delegation to stop collecting information from the mainstream media which have been involved in the war on Syria.

Over 1700 parliamentarians from all over the world are taking part in the IPU meetings which kicked off on October 14.
