Syrian Olympic football team ranks second at the Arab Sports Games in Algeria

The Syrian Olympic football team on Friday won the silver medal at the Arab Sports Games in Algeria, after losing to the Saudi team on penalties 5-4.

The Saudi team scored in the 12th minute, but the Syrian team managed to draw after Mardik Mardakian scored Syria’s goal at the 44th minute, leading the match to the penalties stage that ended up with Saudi Arabia’s win.

With this silver medal, Syria increased the total number of the medals it won at the 15th Arab Games to 53, including 14 golds.
