Syria Welcomes Every Initiative That Respects its Sovereignty and Independent Decision
On Saturday, Hilal al-Hilal, the Assistant Regional Secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist Party (BASP) asserted that many European countries should give up their double standards policies towards Arab causes in general and towards the war on Syria in particular.
Al-Hilal, who was speaking to the guest Belgian and Dutch political activists, visiting the country, urged the European countries to adopt clear policies based on respecting other countries’ sovereignty and independent decision and on non interference in the internal affairs of these countries.
He highly appreciated the activists’ visit to Syria despite the circumstances Syria is passing through, stressing that this visit indicates a change in the international stance towards Syria tragic events which were caused by the colonialist terrorist war waged on the country over the past five years because of its national stances, geographic position and resistance against the US-Zionist colonialist policies in the region.
The BASP Assistant Regional Secretary asserted that despite the terrorism facing Syria, the state’s institutions and ministries are still working to the fullest in parallel with the state’s fight against terrorism.
He described the US-led international anti-terror coalition as “useless political media coalition”, pointing out that if this coalition’s countries are serious about fighting terrorism they should stop their support for terrorism and make clear decisions that combat terrorism.
“From the very beginning of the war, Syria has affirmed its support for dialogue and for every political initiative that stops shedding the Syrian blood and respects the state’s national sovereignty and independent decision. Syria has also supported every international anti-terrorism effort provided through diplomatic channels.”
On their part, the guest European activists stressed that they visited Syria to express solidarity with the Syrian people in the confrontation of the organized terrorism they are facing.
They pointed out that contrary to some media outlets reports on life in Syria, “we felt that life is almost normal and people are practicing their daily life as usual,” stressing that they will convey this image to their countries to uncover the fabrications of anti-Syria media.
The delegation had the opportunity to visit Syrian army wounded personnel in “Tishreen” Military Hospital where they expressed their admiration over the Syrian army’s courage and called on countries of the West to stop their support for terrorism to help Syria restore its stability and security.
