Syrian official delegation: “opposition” admits they have no control over armed groups

GENEVA, (ST) – A morning dialogue session between the Syrian Arab Republic’s delegation and the coalition delegation of the so-called “opposition” was held on Sunday in Geneva .

Lakhdar Brahimi ,the UN mediator to Syria attended the session.

During the session, the Syrian official delegation underlined  that the issue of delivering humanitarian aid has been underway for a year and a half – and not only delivering aid to Homs –  within the response plan set by Syria and the UN, and this issue is not related to the conception of Geneva conference.

The Syrian official delegation further underlined  that the entry of any convoy to any area in Syria at this time, before or after, is not related to Geneva, as it is the agreement of the state with the UN and Syria has been cooperating in this field for 2 years.

“the Syrian state does not distinguish between one citizen and another and it does not give precedence to an area over another. Hence, Adra al-Umalieh, al-Foa’a, Nubul and al-Zahra areas are the same as Homs, “insisted the delegation.

“In this respect, Barzah district is a good example to be followed in other areas. But, the coalition delegation talked only about the old city in Homs for half of the session and this causes bewilderment, “clarified the delegation.

The Syrian official delegation asked the coalition delegation to present a clear image of the gunmen they have control over in the Syrian territories; however the “opposition” delegation did not present anything and said that they have no control over the armed groups, and they can only contact themselves.

Here,the official delegation asked Brahimi how can the coalition delegation guarantee the implementation of any agreement.

The Syrian official delegation called for exerting pressure on the coalition delegation to free tens of people at Father Francis Church, by the coalition delegation evaded the issue.

The official delegations also  stressed readiness to evacuate any citizen, but the coalition delegation abstained from submitting any list.

“there is no problem with discussing any issue, but wondered how can any political course take place while terrorism is still present in Syria, “added the delegation.
