Syrian national youth team concludes first round of the Asian Championship with a draw against its Thai counterpart

The Syrian national youth football team concluded its participation in the Asian Under-20 Championship held in China today, by drawing with its Thai counterpart, 2-2 in the third and final round of the group stage.

With this draw, our team remained in third place with two points in Group 4, as the tournament system stipulates that the first and second of the four groups qualify for the round of 16 at the end of the first round.

In the final round and for Group 4, the Japanese team tied with the South Korean team 1-1, so that the South Korean team topped the group with seven points, followed by Japan with five points, and both qualified for the round of 16.

As for the rest of the groups, Australia and China qualified for the round of 16 as first and second from Group One, Saudi Arabia and Iraq from Group 2, and Iran and Uzbekistan from Group 3.
