Syrian national football team defeats its Chinese counterpart 1-0 in a friendly match at Phoenix Stadium

Beijing, (ST) – The Syrian men’s football team defeated its Chinese counterpart 1-0, in the friendly match that brought them together on Tuesday at Phoenix Stadium in China.

The goal of the match was scored by Thaer Kroma.

The match came at the end of the team’s training camp in the Chinese city of Chengdu.

During the press conference dedicated for the match, the Syrian team’s coach, Hector Cuper said: This match comes within the framework of the team’s preparation for the upcoming qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, the 2027 Asian Cup, and the Asian Championship early next year, stressing that the Chinese team is one of the strongest teams in the Asian continent.

This match was the second match to be played by the Syrian national team in this camp after tying with the Malaysian team 2-2.
