Syrian national basketball team qualified for the 2nd round of the Asian Men’s Cup

JAKARTA, Jul.17, (ST)- The Syrian national basketball team has qualified for the second round of the Asian Men’s Cup, currently being held in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta, after it defeated Kazakhstan, 77-67 points.

Although the Kazakh team advanced in the first quarter by 26-16 points, the reaction of our team was strong to excel in the second and third quarters by 21-7 points and 24-13 points.

The qualification of our team came after it came in the third place in the third group after the teams of Japan and Iran and it will play with the second group in the fourth one according to the tournament system.

Our team lost its first match against its Iranian counterpart, 67-80 points, and against Japan, 117-56 points, at the end of the first round.
