GENEVA, (ST)- The Syrian People’s Assembly (PA) delegation participating in the World Investment Forum in Geneva has called for pressuring western governments as to lift the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people and to stop supporting and funding terrorism which hinders stability in Syria.
More than 5000 participants representing countries, public sector, international organizations and civil society, took part in the forum which opened in Geneva on Friday.
Head of the Syrian delegation and Secretary of the People’s Assembly Rami Saleh affirmed in a statement he sent to the office of the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union via the Syrian Embassy in Geneva, that the PA is keen on effective participation in all international parliamentary activities.
Saleh noted the negative economic, health and psychological impacts of the coercive measures imposed by the governments of some western states on the Syrian people. He urged the forum to issue recommendations that call for lifting these measures and for considering them as human rights violation and a factor that hampers investment and development.
