Syrian mini- Constitutional Committee to hold 4th round on Monday in Geneva, says Pederson

Geneva, (ST) – The United Nations special envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen announced that the fourth round of the Syrian Constitutional Committee will begin its work tomorrow at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva.

Pedersen said in a press conference held in Geneva on Monday (today) that, after discussions and meetings with the participating delegations and with the Swiss authorities, including health, we are now able to start tomorrow’s meeting.

 

He expressed his wish to see progress on the issue of the Constitutional Committee, and that this progress will be made by the Syrians themselves and that tomorrow’s meeting to push the political process forward.

Pedersen indicated the need to work to enhance confidence between the parties participating in the meetings and build on what has been achieved during the previous rounds.

The 3rd round of the Constitutional Committee was held last August at the UN headquarters in Geneva under the title of “Basic National Principles.
