Syrian Media Succeeded in Facing Media Empires during Terrorist War on Syria: Information Minster

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Information Minister Mohammad Ramez Turjman has hailed the role played by both public and private media outlets in the confrontation of takfiri thinking and the global terrorist aggression which has been targeting Syria for years to fragment the country and destroy its civilization and cultural heritage.

Turjman made the remarks on Thursday during a People’s Assembly session held to discuss the performance of the Information Ministry.

The minister started his statement by announcing that within the coming few hours, the last batch of terrorists will leave the city of Aleppo, pointing out that before they leave the terrorists have destroyed their positions and burnt all their documents as well as all the tanks and vehicles they had used in their attacks.

“By liberating Aleppo, the Syrian Arab army has kept its promise,” said the minister, noting that the army will press ahead with its battle until the entire Syrian territory is liberated from terrorists, particularly in Palmyra, Deir Ezzour and Raqqa.

Turjman affirmed that “national media has been in the frontline of the battle from the very beginning of terrorist aggression on Syria fighting at all military, economic, political, social and psychological fronts.” He referred to martyrs and wounded persons from the media sector.

He said “despite criticism, the national media, with its limited resources and abilities, has succeeded, to some extent, in facing huge enemy media empires which are supported by huge funding, technical abilities and expertise.”

The minister went on to say that “at the beginning of the crisis, the Syrian media was alone covering events in Syria and trying to explain to the world that what is happening in the country was terrorism.” “Now, the words [terrorism and terrorists] are occupying the headlines of most world TV channels and newspapers even in Syria’s enemy countries,” added Turjman, stressing that this achievement indicates the success of the Syrian media in cooperation with that of Syria friendly countries and resistance in confronting the terrorist and media war on the country.
