DAMASCUS, (ST)- The role of the Syrian media in covering the Syrian Arab army’s victories over terrorism and in confronting the anti Syria disinformation campaigns was the theme of the media forum held within the frame work of the Second Syrian Media Festival organized by the Journalist Union at Dar Al-Assad for Art and Culture in Damascus.
Information Minister Imad Sara said that the media conspiracy hatched against Syria couldn’t, despite the huge foreign support, undermine the steadfastness of the national media.
He added that targeting Syrian journalists and media institutions during the crisis has proved the effectiveness of the Syrian media and its role in the battlefield. He highly appreciated the sacrifices of the Syrian media journalists who were martyred while conveying the real image about what is really going on in the country.
Dr. Mahdi Dakhlallah, Member of Baath Arab Socialist Party Regional Leadership, stressed that the war on Syria aimed at destroying the entire country, using for this purpose mercenaries form different countries of the world, Information technology and drones.
Dakhlallah pointed out that the political, cultural and economic life haven’t stopped in Syria during the war; rather, a new constitution as well as new parties, media and local administration laws were issued alongside a growingly active social and cultural life.

On her part, the Presidential Political and Media Advisor Bouthaina Shaaban, clarified that Syria’s confrontation of the conspiracy and its fight against terrorism have entirely changed the political scene in terms of stances, concepts, affiliations and positions of political forces in the world.
“All the threats propagated by the western countries in their media outlets come within the framework of the media war on Syria, so we have to fortify ourselves against such a war by analyzing and using the facts,” Shaaban said.
She added that Syria along with its allies and friends have written a new history, pointing out that “in this regard, we have to read history again and realize that we are a people with a great civilization and many elements of strength that can restore the brightness and the prosperity our country deserves.”
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faysal al-Mikdad affirmed that “the war waged against Syria was a proactive step to create a new situation and to undermine our history and all our causes.’
“The war on Syria was pre-prepared, and Israel as well as some western countries which want Israel to control the region, were in the heart of this war,” the deputy minister said, hailing the national media’s role in uncovering the terrorist war on the country and highly appreciating the sacrifices offered by the national media martyrs in defense of Syria’s present and future.
