In parallel with the global war being launched against Syria, there has been a media war financed by some petro-dollar states, especially Qatar and Saudi Arabia. However, Syrian mass media managed to overcome the massive resources set against it and all attempts to confuse or censor it, playing a vital part in the battle against terrorism and misdirection despite the brutal media war waged on Syria. Syria has a media policy committed to preserving national and pan-Arab standards. The scale of the battle and pressure imposed on Syria forced a certain way of working in the field of mass media, such as refuting the lies spread by al-Jazeera and al-Arabiya whose media is based on fabrications that aim to distort facts and mislead the world public opinion.
New media outlets have been employed since the beginning of the crisis, the mass media’s tasks have doubled due to the war on Syria while budgets were halved, prompting all people involved to exert extra efforts to confront the ferocious media battle.
The current Syrian mass media is a state media, not an authority media, as it hosted opposition figures and underwent considerable advances and shifts in recent years. It took considerable effort to reach this stage as this involved overcoming a mentality that had prevailed for decades. The mass media involved in the issue of conflict, confrontation, and the war on Syria is certainly not neutral; it is part of this state and it plays a vital role in covering the great victories realized by the Armed Forces against takfiri terrorism.
Some journalists fell martyrs in the line of duty. There’s a committee in charge of caring for their families as well as caring for journalists injured while carrying out their duty.
The Western media empires are responsible for manufacturing the extremists and terrorists. Western countries realized a long time ago the significance of media, and have provided all forms of financial support to their media empires to enable them to carry out the tasks of promoting those countries’ approaches.
Those empires have been misleading the developing countries to blemish their image and undermine their independence. A telling example of those practices was made evident through the terrorist war declared against Syria where Western media and its Arab and regional tools played a role in supporting the killers and gunmen who tried to destroy Syria’s infrastructure and kill innocent people.
While censuring those countries whose people fell victim to the Western media absorbing whatever ideas they provide, Syria was among the few exceptions where Western media failed to put into effect their misleading campaigns thanks to the high awareness of Syrian people and their determination to foil the conspiracy that targets their existence.
The Syrian media has been backed by honorable Arab media outlets and figures who insisted on standing squarely behind their fellow Syrians in defense of truth, justice and integrity.
The West uses media in its battle to preserve its imperialist and colonialist interests and protect Israel. Unless the developing countries could manage to use media weapon properly, they would not be able to win their just battles.
The Syrian people hold all the media which have practiced misleading throughout the ongoing crisis in the country and made heroes out of the takfiri terrorists by feeding the “jihadist” inclination accountable for the shedding of the Syrian blood and destroying the country’s infrastructure.
