Syrian-made “Farah Star” ship floating in the Port of Banias in Tartous

The teams in charge managed on Saturday to float the Syrian ship “Farah Star” in the port of Banias in Tartous in preparation for sailing.

“Farah Star” was made by Syrian expertise and skillful Syrian hands to confirm the ability of the Syrian industry to confront the siege.

Earlier in the day, all preparations were completed to float the Syrian-made ship.

The cargo carrying capacity of the ship is 567 tons. The ship is 35 meters long and 8.10 meters wide. It is equipped with two engines, each with a capacity of 750 horsepower, and with fuel tanks that are enough for a month-long trip  without needing to be refueled.

Tartous Governor Safwan Abu Sa’da told journalists that the ship was inaugurated in Tartous by a team of specialists who exerted exceptional efforts to complete the making of the ship despite the difficulties caused by the siege on Syria.

“We will provide all necessary support for this team so that it can produce larger ships with higher capacities,” he added, hoping that this industry will contribute to supporting the national economy.

On his part, member of the Executive Bureau of Craftsmen Union in Tartous Munther Ramadan said that this Syrian-made ship affirms the ability of the Syrian industry to withstand the repercussions of the unfair blockade imposed on Syria by enemies of the Syrian people.
