NEW YORK, (ST)- Deputy Premier, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid al-Moallem on Thursday met his Lebanese counterpart Jubran Basil and discussed with him bilateral ties including political and economic cooperation and coordination.
On the sidelines of the 72nd UN General Assembly ‘s meetings, al-Moallem stressed that the Syrian-Lebanese ties never change despite attempts by some parties to disrupt them.
“These are history and geography facts,” he said
Al-Moalllem talked about the latest developments in the fight against terrorism, Astana process, de-escalation zones, clarifying that Syria will press ahead with fighting terrorism.
On his part, Basil said that coordination between the two countries in all field is very important, affirming that the positive developments on the Syrian arena in addition to the victories of the Syrian Arab army on terrorism will compel those who are adopting a negative stance against Syria to make a shift in this stance and contribute to reconstructing Syria.
The meeting was attended by Syria’s Permanent Representative at the United Nations Bashar Al-Jaafari and the Foreign Minster’s Advisor Ahmad Arnous..
Al-Moallem arrived in New York today morning leading Syria’s delegation participating in the meetings of the 72nd UN General Assembly.
