Syrian judo teams shine in Beirut

Beirut,(ST)-The  national judo teams (U-14 ,U-16)  have achieved remarkable results in the West Asia Judo Championship which was staged in Lebanon.

In the U-16 contest,the Syrian team  grabbed seven varied medals(4 gold,2 silver,5 bronze) where Fares Badawi,Ahmad Raad,Sibai Haj Idris and Mohammad Ghasan Siba took one gold each.The sole silver medal went to Ahmad bayer.Talal Futeih and Abdul Salam Qadour finished third in their categories.

In the U-14(male and female),the Syrian team managed to get ten varied medals(3 gold,2 silver,5 bronze).

The athletes who won medals were:Shadi Abo Seif,Mohammad Khayat,Malvina As’ad,Ahmad Homlani,Dina Mousa ,Salih Tayeb,Mu’ath Akkash,Mohammad Outa Bashi,Dina Ashour and Hanaa Darkoush.

Jamal Mansour,the Syrian Judo Federation Chairman, was quoted as saying that the said event was a good opportunity for our players to gain further experience and to upgrade their levels,’.

“the event witnessed tough bouts as outstanding players from advanced countries in such kind of sport took part in the event,” concluded Mansour.

It is worth noting that Syrian judo enjoys prominent place at Arab and regional arenas.
