Syrian Journalists stand in solidarity with al-Mayadeen TV channel

DAMASCUS,(ST) _ Syrian Journalists have stood in solidarity with al-Mayadeen Television Channel, which has exposed to intense pressures, including Arabsat’s decision to ban the TV channel broadcast.

The speakers in today’s solidarity stand in Damascus affirmed that resistance media will remain steadfast in facing suppression measures being adopted by government supporting crimes and terrorism.

They indicated that the Arabsat’s decision to ban al-Mayadeen TV channel broadcast breaches media freedom guaranteed by law.

Arabsta is one of the tools being used by Saudi Arabia to fight media freedom, the speakers said, adding that Arabsat previously targeted the Syrian TV channels.

Last Friday, Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi declared that banning al-Mayadyeen TV channel broadcast by the Saudi authorities represented by the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat) is an unjustified step which comes as part of the systematic aggressive policy adopted by Saudi Arabia.

He called on Arabsat administration to review its wrong decisions and not allow Saudi authorities to use it as a tool to plot against the Arab and Islamic nations.

The Beirut-based Al-Mayadeen TV channel supports resistance against occupation.
