Syrian-Jordanian Agreement on Unified Fees… and 11 Weekly Flights to Damascus

Jordanian Minister of Transport Wissam Al-Tahtamouni said on Tuesday that there is a Syrian-Jordanian agreement to unify fees between the two countries.

In an interview with Jordan’s “Al-Mamlaka” TV channel about the Jordanian-Syrian meetings held today in Damascus, she added: “We will all witness the impact of cooperation between Jordan and Syria.”

Al-Tahhamoni, who was part of the Jordanian delegation that visited Damascus today, clarified that a meeting of the Jordanian-Syrian committee for land transport will be held soon.

This committee is responsible for studying all procedures and obstacles and working to resolve them to ensure smooth trade and passenger movement.

She emphasized that there is an agreement to unify fees between Jordan and Syria, in line with the principle of fee unification.

Al-Tahhamoni stated: “Transport is the lifeline of trade and the economy, and there is an understanding with the Syrian Minister of Transport to benefit from the Jordanian experience in the transport sector.”

Regarding the railway issue, Al-Tahhamoni mentioned that discussions were held about restarting the Hijaz railway line connecting to Syria, noting that this requires maintenance work from the Syrian side.

As for air transport, she indicated that Royal Jordanian Airlines operates 11 flights weekly to Damascus and 3 flights to Aleppo Airport, adding: “The operations from the Jordanian side are achieving their goals, and we will see their results on the ground.”
