Sulmona-Italy (ST): The University of Damascus and the Governorate of Damascus signed two cooperation agreements with the Italian National Park Maiella administration with the aim of exchanging experiences and to serve the national project to revive Barada River and preserve biodiversity and natural resources.
The agreement was signed by the Syrian side during a scientific symposium in Italy, attended by experts from both sides, Dr. Ghada Bilal, Deputy Dean of the Higher Institute for Regional Planning and Director of the National Project for the Revitalization of the Barada River, and for the Italian side, Lucio Azara, head of the Italian Maiella National Park.
It is noteworthy that Barada River revitalization project was launched by the Higher Institute of Regional Planning and won by Damascus University as an applied research project from the Higher Commission for Scientific Research to regulate sewage encroachments on the river, road networks and land use plans.
